در آرشيو دولتي تاريخ گرجستان و انستيتوي نسخ خطي آكادمي علوم گرجستان (ليدزه Kekelidze) هزاران سند تاريخي پيرامون تاريخ ايران به زبان‌هاي گرجي، فارسي، روسي، فرانسوي و غيره به صورت اصل يا سواد موجود است. اين اسناد كه متعلق به قرون 16 تا اوايل 20 ميلادي مي‌باشد دربرگيرنده آگاهي‌ها در زمينه‌هاي گوناگون زندگي اجتماعي بوده و از لحاظ تنوع شامل: فرامين و احكام شاهان ايران، احكام عباس ميرزا وليعهد فتحعلي‌شاه قاجار، احكام خوانين ماوراي قفقاز، احكام شاهان كارتلي و كاختي – دو استان تاريخي شرق گرجستان، اسناد مربوط به نايب‌السلطنه و ستاد ارتش روسيه در قفقاز، اسناد تملك و تمليك، عريضه‌ها با تصميمات مربوطه، مكاتبات، قراردادهاي تجاري، تعهدنامه‌ها، گزارش‌ها و تحقيقات مختلف و غيره مي‌باشد.

در اين مجموعه در ميان اسناد صادره از جانب شاهان ايران قديمي‌ترين سندي كه موجود است فرمان شاه تهماسب اول صفوي به تاريخ 25 جماي‌الثاني سال 948ه ق مي‌باشد و جديدترين آنها فرماني است از محمدعلي شاه قاجار به تاريخ رمضان سال 1325 ه ق كه در واقع آخرين سند از مجموعه فوق‌الذكر مي‌باشد. بر پژوهشگران پوشيده نيست كه فرامين و احكام شاهان ايران به عنوان يكي از اصيل‌ترين منابع تاريخي نه فقط براي گرجستان، بلكه براي تمام قفقاز، خاورميانه و نيز خود ايران حائز اهميت مي‌باشد.
