1. Define the following terms?
A.phoneme: when we verify in our mind and never write it
C. allophone:one more technical term need to be introduced :when we talked about different realisation of phonemes, we sometimes call these realisations allophone
2. What does "complementary distribution" means?
Strict separation of place where particular realisations can accrue we say that the realizations are in complementary distribution.
3. What is the difference between phonemic and phonetic transcription?
Phonemic transcription is one of the traditional exercises in pronunciation teaching by phonetic method but phonetic transcription is a phonetic transcription containing a lot of information about the exact quality of the sound.
4. How many types of phonemic transcription do we have? What is their difference?
Transcription from a written text
Transcription from dictation
Transcription from dictation: we should listen to a person and write what we hear but in other one give a passage written in orthography and must use phonemic symbol to represent by a speaker of a particular accent.
5. What is phonology? What does it study?
Study a related but different subject and studying both the phonetics and phonology for understanding sound in english speech.
