Come in handy= be useful in the future ، به درد خوردن در آینده سودمند بودن
Example : I keep all my books, They might come in handy one day.
تمام کتاب هام رو نگه می دارم ، ممکنه یک روزی بدرد بخورن

Check something out=borrow some books کتاب از کتابخانه گرفتن
Example : I go to library to check some books twice a month.
دو بار در ماه می رم کتابخانه تا کتاب قرض بگیرم.

Catch up with= to maintain in the same level به کسی یا چیزی رسیدن
Yesterday I got a cold , so I couldn’t go to the journey with my family. I had to catch up with them tomorrow.
دیروز سرما خوردم به همین دلیل نتونستم با خانوادم به مسافرت برم . باید فردا خودم رو بهشون برسونم.

Call at= drop by سرزدن به جایی یا کسی در راه رفتن به جای دیگر
Example : I call at my old friend on the way to trip.
در راه سفرم سری هم به دوست قدیمیم زدم.
Catch on with = drove someone attention توجه کسی را جلب کردن
Example :The role of Ali in that film didn’t catch on with his friends.
نقش علی در اون فیلم مورد توجه دوستاش قرار نگرفت.

Call on = ask someone to do something از کسی بخواهی کاری برایت انجام دهد
Example :I call on my friend to lend me his car for a week
از دوستم درخواست کردم ماشینش رو یک هفته به من قرض بده.

Call off = to cancel or postpone صرفنظر کردن- منحرف کردن- لغو کردن - به تعویق انداختن
Example: Our teacher calls the exam off because of the bad weather.
استادمون به خاطر بدی هوا امتحان رو لغو کرد.

Got behind= couldn’t finish از چیزی یا کاری عقب ماندن
Example :I got behind my flight because I didn’t get up on time.
چون به موقع بیدار نشدم از پروازم جا موندم (عقب موندم).

Get his jokes through = understand فهمیدن
Example: Teacher couldn’t get the new lesson through us.
معلم نتونست درس جدید رو به ما بفهمونه.

Leave for = go to another place ترک کردن جایی به مقصدی دیگر
Example: when I saw my brother, he was leaving for university.
وقتی برادرم رو دیدم داشت می رفت دانشگاه.

Left out = to omit- exclude حذ ف کردن
Example: Our teacher left out some parts of the book for our exam.
استادمون برای امتحان بخش هایی از کتاب را حذف کرد.

Look down on = regard someone with a feeling of superiority به چشم حقارت به کسی نگاه کردن
Example: looking down on other people isn’t good.
با دیده حقارت به بقیه نگاه کردن درست نیست.

Putt up = offer or show a particular degree of resistance طرح کردن- بنا کردن
Example: I put up a goodbye party when I decided to go to the Paris and live there forever.
زمانی که تصمیم گرفتم به پاریس برم و برای همیشه اونجا زندگی کنم یه مهمونیه خداحافظی ترتیب دادم..

Run into = to experience something unexpectedly کسی را غیر منتظره دیدن
Example: I ran into one of my old friends at university a week ago.
هفته ی پیش یکی از دوستان قدیمیم رو به طور اتفاقی در دانشگاه دیدم.

Run off = to produce rapidly کپی کردن
Example: I have to run off pamphlets of my friend because I didn’t go to university last week .
چون هفته ی پیش نرفته بودم دانشگاه مجبور شدم از جزوه ای دوستم کپی بگیرم..

Run out of = to use up the available supply of ته کشیدن چیزی- تمام شدن چیزی
Example: We run out of pen, you should go out and buy a few.
خودکارمون تموم شده باید بری بیرون و یه چندتایی بخری.

See somebody off = to accompany someone to point of departure بدرقه کردن
Example: We are going to the airport to see my uncle off.
می خواییم بریم فرودگاه برای بدرقه کردن داییم..

Sit up = to stay up after the usual time for going to bed شب بیدار ماندن
Example: I have to sit up to do my homework.
مجبورم تا دیروقت بیدار بمونم که تکالیفم رو انجام بدم..

Show off = a person who tries to impress other people by showing how good he or she is at doing sth پز دادن
Example: Showing off isn’t a good behavior in the society.
پز دادن رفتار پسندیده ای در جامعه به شمار نمی یاد.

Sat on = to hold deliberation پشت گوش انداختن
Example: My brother always sat on his exercises.
برادرم همیشه تمریناتش رو پشت گوش می ندازه.

Stand for = to be a symbol of مختصر شده – خلاصه شده
Example: USA Stands for United States of America.
مخفف ایالات متحده امریکاست. USA

Turn up = to raise or increase بلند کردن-زیاد کردن
Example: I’m watching TV, Please turn up its volume.
دارم تلویزیون تماشا می کنم لطفا صداشو زیاد کن.

Tied up = to keep busy مشغول بودن- گرفتار بودن
Example: My father tied up a huge project last month
پدرم ماه گذشته مشغول یک پروژه عظیم بود.

Turn down = reject رد کردن –نپذیرفتن
Example: My friend turn down my invitation to the party.
دوستم دعوتم رو به مهمونی رد کرد..

Turn off = to stop the flow of or shut off by or as if by turning a control خاموش کردن یا شدن
Example: Turn the TV off please, I’m sleeping.
خواهش می کنم تلویزیون رو خاموش کن من دارم می خوابم.

Well in hand = under control تحت کنترل
Example: The police officer said the situation is well in hand completely.
افسر پلیس گفت اوضاع کاملا تحت کنترله.
