The Elements of the story
1.Plot: Plot- Mystery- Suspense- Climax- Theme- Conflict( internal-external)—Surprise
Ending
2. Characterization: Static vs. Dynamic –Round vs. Flat -- Stock –Protagonist vs. Antagonist
3. Point of view: Omniscient—Limited omniscient—First person--- Objective

Plot

Plot: Is the sequence of major events supporting the central idea in a story.
Mystery: Those elements which are making a mysterious mood in the story like: The gray air- unknown frightening old man—bleak house are called the element of mystery.
Suspense: The questions which are made in the mind of the reader directly or undirectly at the beginning of the story for which the reader will follow the story up to the end is called suspense.
Surprise: The events or reactions which happen in the story against the expectation of reader are called surprise. It shouldn't be excessive in a literary work.
Conflict: It's the clash of the story. If it's within the character himself against his emotions, idea, and beliefs , it's called Internal and if it's between the character and the other characterizes or his environment , it's called External.
Climax: It's the turning point of the story in which most of the questions have been answered clearly and sometimes the major character has some sort of revelation or awareness of the truth and his situation.

- Theme: (main idea) It shouldn’t be too general. It shouldn't be too specific.
It shouldn't be a phrase or a single word. It should be a complete sentence taken from the controlling main idea for which the literary work was written . It should be just based on a religious or moral lesson, it should be about a human experience.
Ending: If at the end of story the events come to a happy result the story will be happy ended, and if they come up with the sad result it will be tragic ended and if the ending is not quite clear it will be open ended. If some events come up with a happy and some with a tragic one it's approximated or intermediate ending.
Plot manipulation vs. artistic unity: when the writer of the story is using some irrelevant points or lots of surprises in the story he's guilty of plot manipulation.
Artistic unity: When all the elements of the story are being supported by the major ideas of the story, the story has an artistic unity.
Characterization
Static vs. Dynamic: Static character is a character who believes in the same set of ideas and feeling while a dynamic one is gonna be changed with his new experiences. That is because of some events he is gonna have a different belief in life.
Round vs. Flat: The character who's complicated and should be known in action is called round. But the one who is simple to be known and doesn't have different layers to be analyzed is flat.
Stock: The character who is a stereo type or based on a cliché that is ,he is not more than what we expect him to be is a stock character. e.g: when a police is not more than the police and he's exactly what we expect him and to be as in a cliché , is a stock police officer.
Protagonist vs. Antagonist: The major character for whom the story has been written is called the protagonist. The events , the conditions and the other characters that are against the protagonist are called the Antagonist.
Point of view
Omniscient: When the writer knows everything about all the characters but gives us as much as information as we need to know, the narrator is omniscient.
Limited omniscient: When the writer knows everything about one character in the story major or minor, and he's hidden behind him to narrate the story for the reader we have " limited omniscient", point of view which is in third person, and we know the other characters through that character's eyes.
First person: The narrator of the story is one of the character who's facing all events in person and narrates it directly to the reader. The pronouns (I) and (we) are used in this style and we know all the characters with his point of view.
Objective: When the narrator is like a roving camera , just watching events without giving us any judgment or comment ,we have an objective point of view and it seems that we are watching a movie rather than reading a story . The story is full of dialogues.
